For Pommery,
modernity would be meaningless without tradition, which
lies in know-how and the art of blending different crus
that enables us to make Champagne that is luminous and
light, tender and lively at the same time. This is the
legacy that Madame Pommery has handed down through the
generations.
Everything is there in the distinctive Pommery style:
natural elegance. From the deep blue of the Pommery label
and identity to the transparent bubbles, the luminous
singularity of Pommery wines allows you to share, every
day, the joyful elegance of tradition married with modernity. |
In France
and throughout the world, the name Pommery implies elegance
and a spirit of impertinence. It was a personality gifted
in the art of living and business, Jeanne-Alexandrine
Louise Melin, who gave impetus to the firm... from
the 1860's!
Born in 1815, she became Madame Pommery when she married
in 1840.
She affirmed her fighting spirit upon the death of her
husband: "I, Madame Pommery... have decided to continue
the business and take my husband's place".
Mr Greno, her husband's former associate, followed
this "woman of the elite, full of heart and energy" in
the commercial adventure opening before them.
A born entrepreneur, Madame Pommery was already thinking
of conquering and developing markets. She galvanised the
firm's management and developed her own concepts of style,
brand, communication and public relations at the Domaine...
Pommery's brand image was born, along with the principles
of promoting a luxury product.
Aiming for the international market, she invented the
function of Export Manager and sent Mr Hubinet
all over the world.
This bold gamble was a total success and the renown of
Pommery spread to England, Russia and the United States.
Never short of ideas, Madame Pommery was ahead of her
time; one day she signed by hand 4,000 circulars for the
city of Brussels… Did someone mention "direct marketing"?
Madame Pommery, a sparkling personality driven by a conquering
spirit and uncompromising ethics, clearly defined the
Pommery spirit: tradition and modernity. |
